My Daughters’ Modest Monday ~ At the Zoo

Fieldtrip Friday took us to the zoo. What is it about going to see the monkeys that makes children act like monkeys? *grin*

It was unseasonably cool with a high that might have reached 50, and the sun played peek-a-boo with the clouds most of the day. But we Carvers are cold weather lovers, so we soaked it up before the hot weather hits. The girls removed their jackets for a few pictures and then shivered back into them quickly.

When we’re going someplace that requires a lot of walking, especially someplace outside, we dress for comfort. That usually means tennis shoes, but the 13yo forgot and put on her Mary Jane’s. Turned out she was just fine.

The 13yo ~

Turquoise striped top {Her favorite color!} ~ Wal-Mart purchase given as Christmas gift
Denim skirt ~ thrift store
Lilla Rose flexi in an oblong bun ~ Sea Inspired Dolphin {Her favorite sea creature leaps through her hair!}

Can you guess this is a favorite outfit of hers?

The 11yo ~

Green striped top ~ Wal-Mart purchase given as Christmas gift
Denim skirt ~ thrift store
Brown tennis shoes ~ Payless last year
Lilla Rose flexi in an oblong bun ~ Music Lover {A breezy day is more enjoyable when hair is kept out of the face.}

The 7yo, aka Pinkalicious ~

Pink striped top ~ Wal-Mart purchase given as Christmas gift
Ruffled denim skirt ~ hand-me-down from a friend
Navy blue leggings ~ Wal-Mart {Perfect for keeping little legs warm on a chilly day.}
White tennis shoes ~ hand-me-down from a friend

Don’t you love friends who are generous with their clothing? J What is your favorite footwear for lots of walking?

  1. Your girls are so pretty. :)

    We love hand me downs here at our house. We have very few pieces that were bought new...most of everything has already been used by someone else. And tennis shoes are the best shoes ever!! :)

  3. Our girls are pinkalicious too!

    We splurged and bought some shoes from Stride-Rite for the girls. Best money ever because the girls wear these shoes all the time and I don't have to worry about the fit being off because they train their staff on how to fit children's shoes.

    If we ever find Stride-rite shoes at a second hand store we snatch them quickly because they are such great shoes.

    1. Stride Rite shoes look amazing, but I've never been able to make myself spend the money. :) I'm sure they're durable, so that's a wonderful idea to look for them at the thrift store. Thanks for the suggestion, Jacki!
