Six Reasons I Go to a Writing Conference {American Christian Fiction Writers}

This weekend, I get to submerse myself in the world of writing. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that I wish I’d known about years ago!

I don’t go many places by myself, but this is one thing that’s worth the separation from my family. Here’s why.

Writing workshops. I get two solid days of workshops led by the experts. Even just one little tidbit gleaned can make a difference in the next book, and that means a better story for readers.

Meeting the greats. Yes, I’m a fan girl. I’ve been so in awe of some writers I’ve seen at ACFW that I haven’t had the courage to approach them.

With Cynthia Ruchti.

With Janet Dean and Debby Giusti.

All of us with Lauraine Snelling.

With Deb Raney.

Learning about the publishing industry. Editors and literary agents attend as well as writers, so it’s a terrific place to learn about new trends and the state of business as well as meet plenty of people.

The food. Let’s be perfectly honest. I don’t eat on cloth tablecloths at home, and I don’t have anyone serving me coffee or tea or clearing dishes away {unless it’s my generous and long-suffering husband}. It’s elegant and refined, plus I don’t have to prepare it or clean it up. A pampering treat!

Free books. I usually bring home enough to give away on the blog, so stay tuned!

Friends! I'm looking forward to seeing a couple of friends from three years ago as well as meeting in person some online friends.

I’ll share photos on Facebook and Twitter through the weekend, if you’d like to follow along there.
